South Golden Beach

Prominda Homes is proud to present one of the most architecturally significant and technically demanding projects in our history: a two-module, custom-designed coastal residence in South Golden Beach. Built in Prominda’s Riverina facility and transported more than 1,200 kilometres to its final location, this bespoke home demonstrates the full capability of modular construction when innovation, craftsmanship and architectural ambition align. Designed to settle effortlessly into the natural beauty of the Byron Shire coastline, the home features a striking contemporary form with a dramatic skillion roof, deep timber-lined eaves and a sculptural façade treatment inspired by Japanese minimalism.

The external cladding is Shou Sugi Ban — a traditional Japanese charred-timber finish chosen for its durability, fire resistance and natural aesthetic. Achieving this finish required custom testing, hand-crafting and careful sequencing to ensure a consistent char level across façades.

Built across two large modules, the home includes two bedrooms, a central bathroom, a light-filled open-plan living area and a seamlessly integrated deck overlooking the water corridor behind the property. Large stacker doors, positioned to optimise both cross-ventilation and solar aspect, blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor living while enhancing the home’s passive thermal performance.

High-performance glazing, stone benchtops and sustainably sourced internal linings complete the interior.

Transporting and installing the modules on this constrained coastal site required advanced planning, precision engineering and a highly skilled crane crew.

The modules were craned over established vegetation and neighbouring structures, landing within millimetres of their design tolerance. Installation was completed safely and without incident — a testament to Prominda’s rigorous quality-control processes and the leadership of Head Builder Stuart Hunter.

This project also reflects Prominda’s ethos of building for lifestyle, connection and long-term resilience. The owner sought a home that balanced luxury with simplicity, creating a peaceful retreat close to family while capturing the restorative qualities of the coastal environment.

The final result is a high-performing modular home that feels handcrafted, grounded and perfectly suited to its setting.
