Crookwell
Our client sought a spacious modular home on a sloping block that could capture the sweeping mountain views while performing efficiently in Crookwell’s cool, temperate climate with its distinct seasonal extremes. Situated on the wind-facing side of the Great Dividing Range, the region’s winters are cold and often bring snow — conditions that called for a smart, resilient design.
Prominda Homes applied its proven solar-passive, energy-efficient principles to create a naturally comfortable home throughout the year. The orientation, floor plan and material selection were carefully planned to harness sunlight in winter while dispersing excess heat in summer. Double-glazed windows and insulated walls work together to maintain balance and reduce energy use.
The final design comprises two modules connected by a covered entrance and stairway, delivering 160 m² of living space and 48 m² of decking that welcomes the winter sun and shelters from the elements when needed. Inside, the layout harmonises four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry and a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The master suite contains an en-suite separated from the other bedrooms.
Custom joinery and finishes brought a seamless, high-quality result that reflected the client’s vision and maximised functionality. The inbuilt fireplace with a ducted heat transfer system provided efficient, whole-home warmth and year-round comfort—combining the charm of a feature fire with the practicality of evenly distributed heating.
Where many prefabricated designs compromise on height or scale, this home features a striking raked ceiling rising to 3.25 m on the eastern wall, enhancing natural light and a sense of volume. True to Prominda’s precision build process, both modules were transported 300 km along twisting, undulating country roads and delivered in pristine condition—ready to showcase the craftsmanship and performance behind every Prominda home.
