At Prominda, we employ environmentally friendly and sustainable principles in the design of your new home. The result is a modern, innovative modular home that is comfortable to live in and designed just for you.

Energy efficient design

Our Prominda homes employ energy efficient design principles to minimise the need for auxiliary heating and cooling. We use techniques such as passive solar design, strategic orientation and energy efficient features to maximise your comfort and reduce your home's running costs. All our Prominda homes are custom designed to suit your individual site and requirements, so we can guarantee that your journey from concept to construction will best suit your lifestyle and budget.

Passive solar design is a particularly important design feature and refers to the use of the sun’s energy for the heating and cooling of living spaces by exposure to the sun. When sunlight strikes a building, the building materials can reflect, transmit, or absorb the solar radiation. In addition, the heat produced by the sun causes air movement that can be predicted in designed spaces. These basic responses to solar heat lead to design elements, material choices and placements that can provide heating and cooling effects in a home. Unlike active solar heating systems, passive systems are simple and do not involve substantial use of mechanical and electrical devices, such as pumps, fans, or electrical controls to move the solar energy.

Eco-friendly materials

Building a new home using environmentally sustainable materials is not only beneficial for our planet but also for you and your family. Not only do we select materials that have minimal environmental impact, we also consider how the materials will affect the indoor spaces of your home. Features such as low VOC paints, the use of acoustically insulating materials where requested, and efficient use of natural light and ventilation, create indoor spaces that are better for your health and comfort.

Prominda also utilises a concrete-free footing systems that not only has minimal impact on your site but also eliminates the need for concrete, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of your build.

We also use steel frames in all our construction, an endlessly recyclable material which does not require harvesting from timber plantations.

Off-site construction

Prominda modules are constructed in our factory in Wagga Wagga and delivered to your site ready to be installed.

While in the factory, Prominda recycles as many materials as possible - from the metal in our steel frames to the paper and cardboard your  appliances are delivered in. All recycling is done through local companies.

Once on site, our specialist install crews are able to complete the installation and join up of your modules in the shortest time possible. Depending on the number of modules your join up may be completed in as little as one week.

This results in minimal  environmental site impact as there are only a small number of specialist crews visiting the site in the shortest time frame with minimal waste generated.

Prominda also uses Surefoot footing system which is a concrete free alternative to the traditional concrete slab. Our footing system requires minimal site excavation to be done and can be installed on most sites, even sites that are steep. Installation of our footing system is generally achieved in 3 days on site, with a minimal number of installers, again meaning the environmental impact on your site is minimal.

Energy efficient features

Double glazed windows and doors are a standard inclusion in all Prominda homes. Double glazed windows have a sealed gap between the panels that acts as an added layer of insulation. This added thermal resistance reduces the amount of heat escaping in cooler weather. In summer the reverse happens with the prevention of heat from the outside coming into the home. Double glazing is also effective at reducing medium to high frequency noises.

Prominda uses high R rated insulation in subflooring, walls and insulation. As well as standard batt insulation, Prominda uses foilboard in the walls and roofing blanket on the roof. These additions add to the R values.

Appliances - Prominda standard selections include energy efficient appliances.  Our tapware selection is rated 4 and 5 star, standard toilet selection is rated 4 star and standard hot water service is rated 6 stars. Prominda will provide a energy / efficiency rating statement for all appliances purchased through our normal suppliers.

Prominda offers a range of heating solutions available to suit your home, including underfloor heating and a large range of  fireplace systems. Our design team will work with you to create an individual and customised design for you and your site to maximise passive heating and cooling.

An off-grid home

We have built a number of completely off-grid homes. From solar panels to worm farm waste systems, we have designed, consulted for and built around all the specific features you may need to build a completely off-the-grid, sustainable home. Other features that have been included in our off-grid homes include; battery storage, composting toilets, pellet heaters, donkey flue water heaters, solar hot water and smart metering systems.
