Having the owner of the property based overseas added some challenges in the planning and design of this home but the brief was specific to build a modern and energy efficient home for their farm manager.

The current house was old, cold in winter and hot in summer and lacking in space for their growing family. Working with Prominda’s architect, the house site was moved to an elevated position to take in the spectacular views but more importantly take advantage of natural light and heating.

The home needed to provide room for family life with 3 bedrooms including ensuite and separate bathroom near the children’s bedrooms and open plan living area with access to a large deck with awning and pergola to allow for outside entertaining.

As a working farm home – our architect in consultation with the owners and the farm manager designed the home with office space and direct entry into the laundry / mudroom from the entry deck.  A small deck accessed only from the master bedroom provided a private area for the parents of this young family.

Access to the property also provided some challenges with a narrow wooden bridge needing to be crossed and a winding track to the new house site.
